About the Library

Neill Bruce's Automobile Photolibrary is currently for sale.
Please contact us at neillb@brucephoto.co.uk to enquire.

Neill Bruce has been building his extensive library for over 35 years, both by acquisitions of other collections and his own photography. As well as the major transparency library, there is artwork in the form of line drawings and some airbrush artwork; and thousands of historic black/white prints from the archives of many manufactuers going back to the dawn of motoring. A considerable amount of the images have also been scanned at high quality, many up to 4000ppi, and are stored digitally for instant use in all types of media.

One of the collections bought contains most of the material used in the magazines Sports Car Monthly and Performance Tuning, published by CW Editorial in the 1980s.

Recent work has been shot digitally on high resolution Canon equipment.

The library is divided into two sections:

THE COPYRIGHT MATERIAL is mainly on colour transparency, in every format from 5x4 inch down to 35mm, and covers cars from 1894 to date. It is this section which has catalogues available as downloadable Acrobat format files. All the artwork is also copyright Neill Bruce, but not catalogued.

THE PETER ROBERTS COLLECTION (PRC) is a huge - uncatalogued - collection of prints and transparencies which are the copyright of the car manufacturers, and are available only for editorial illustration, and not for any sort of advertising or promotion. It documents the automobile since the dawn of motoring.

In recent years Neill has built up a special library section on Concept Cars. Many of the cars are only available as manufacturers images. Those that are catalogued are recently shot copyright images.

Currently there are no plans to catalogue either the PRC or the drawings.

Please browse the new downloadable catalogues in Acrobat format. Most files will be under 6Mb in size, which all modern publishers and studios should be able to download easily. Please contact Neill Bruce with any enquiries or specific requirements at neillb@brucephoto.co.uk .
